I love these short stories. They tie into the series and provide you some history.
Reid has a glass jaw, which gets him in a lot of trouble. Aunt Zoe takes advantage of that little bit of news. This is a very short story about Reid and Zoe's relationship and why Zoe broke up with him
Loved this insight to their relationship and definitely left me wanting more of the story.
I have LOVED this whole series! I can hardly wait for the next Deadwood installment. I am curious/excited to see the direction Ms. Charles will take with Aunt Zoe & Reid's relationship. I'm also curious to find Aunt Zoe's special gifts & connection to the happenings in Deadwood. So much anticipation...
Short stories, long stories, as long as Ann Charles writes the story, I will read it. The kind of books I find hard to put down before I'm finished.
I love all the Deadwood Shorts because they give the reader a little extra insight into different characters and situations in the Deadwood series. I especially love this one since it finally answers the question of why Aunt Zoe is so anti-anti-Reid in a lot more detail than we get in the course of the series. I must say that I can't wait to see if Reid finally wears her down one day! Definitely worth the read!
This short story helps fill in some of the backstory for two of the important characters in Ann Charles' Deadwood series. As always, some interesting reveals, a lot of humor and some intrigue about what will happen next for Zoe, Reid and Violet. From the "uh oh" feeling at the beginning of the story until the almost "Ah" moment at the end where Ann gives us glimpse of the vein of gold coming in Deadwood #7, leaves the readers wanting more.
I’m glad to get the background story between Aunt Zoe and Reid. It was obviously too much to spend a chapter on in a “regular” Deadwood book. Besides, this means the chase continues at least into the next book!
