This isn't the weirdest comic I've read, but it's up there. It really subverts the standards of narration and made me think about free will in a way I hadn't before. It's a really compelling mystery, but the ending is extremely frustrating. The second volume isn't high on my list of things to read over the summer, partially because this series seems to be more expensive to buy than other comics, but it's definitely up there. Would recommend even if you don't end up reading the second volume.Tags : MIND MGMT Volume 1: The Manager [Matt Kindt] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. MIND MGMT Volume 1 The Manager Matt Kindt 9781595827975 Books Reviews
I was hooked on this series after reading the first page.....well written, it's a deep story plot revolving around a covert government agency. After reading through the book once, I noticed the "lines" on the inner and outer edge of each page....so I am reading it through again. Great Series!
I wanted to check this out for a long time and I'm glad I did. I tore through it in no time, the story kept moving along nicely and had me interested the whole way. Enjoyed the art too but the strength here is the imaginative storytelling and world Matt Kindt has built. Loved this.
I've been buying the monthly volumes of Matt Kindt's amazing Mind MGMT series, but I bought this compilation of #1-6 as well in order to have something to lend out to my friends to get them hooked and also so that I could re-read the issues that I have bagged and autographed. Many of the extras that I thought were going to be unique to the monthlys like the notes in the margins and the back-cover stories are included, so you won't be missing out on much if this is your introduction to the series. The story is great, fast-moving and layered with compelling characters, and it's incredibly creative. So get started reading already!
As a fan of The Twilight Zone, Lost, and The X-Files, Mind Mgmt is right up my alley. The story was was told very well and the art does an excellent job conveying mood, emotion, and action.
In this genre, there's a fine line between keeping the audience guessing and being overly manipulative and I thought this collection did an excellent job of going right down the middle.
I'm a little concerned about where the story goes from here because it ends very strongly, but I picked up Vol 2 to see where it leads.
I got into this book when I bought the first two single issues. However, not long after, I quit buying single issues and only trades and omnibus books. I waited for this to be released as a collected book, and am pleased to say the wait was worth it. This is an amazing book. First, the book itself. The front and back cover are very nice, with embossed words on the back cover. The book has a great sewn binding and the paper choice makes the water colored art work look amazing. As for the content, the book has issues 1-6, as well as, issue 0. The first six issues are great, and have plenty of hooks throughout. As for issue 0, it collects a few subplots and is placed in the book after the first issues. Its placement is perfect and helps you get a better understanding about what you read in the first six issues. In the end, all I can say is get this book. It is a well-told story, with incredible art work.
How many times have you seen a moment in your life and it feels like you have been there, or seen that, well you might be a sleeper agent of the MIND MGMT program, I was skeptical to even try this series because and I'm sorry to say this but the art seemed like a little kid made it, well I'm happy to say that I was completely wrong, Matt Kindt is a comics auteur, writing intricate stories, with clear pencils and adding great water colors, makes this book addictive, in a good way, you will read this book and you will constantly move it around trying to decode more information that is provided in the pages. This happens to be some one of the best books that Dark Horse has in their current schedule and volume 2 Mind Mgmt Volume 2 The Futurist is out already with volume three MIND MGMT Volume 3 The Home Maker coming soon.
It reminded me of Akira, Vol. 1 by Katsuhiro Otomo.
If you like conspiracy theories, super spies, secret government agencies, mental powers, this is the book for you.
I was at first skeptical of this, but having read that Ridley Scott had optioned it for a movie I decided to get it and read it. Well, the art seems a bit strange at first, but once you get into the story you realize it's the perfect fit. The watercolor over pencil work is astounding. The story spans six chapters and the twists and turns are amazing and the final chapter will leave you with a truly mind blowing experience. It's simply the best. I give it my highest recommendation.
Would recommend even if you don't end up reading the second volume.
